The Blast Operator is responsible for setting up and operating the shot blast machine to produce quality parts in a timely manner and to customer specifications.
Summary of Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
Complete daily checks on blaster and let management and maintenance know when there are any equipment issues
Receive P/V's and run materials according to the schedule
Coordinate in advance with bay personnel to get material ordered if material is not located in bay 9
Confirm material matches P/V, check length on cut materials from saws and pay close attention for comments entered by sales in the order summary section for any special instructions
Record heat number on P/V by the corresponding blast instructions
Record operator name and date processed on top of P/V, or sign and date by the corresponding cutting instructions you completed
Start P/V on computer terminal by operator's station
Set plow and blow off and run material
Perform visual check on top and bottom of material to confirm blaster is working properly
Produce P/V when processing is completed, but don't reconcile
Write heat number on plates for internal use; write heat number, customer name, order number, and description of material for outbound orders. Customer may require more information written on materials, please watch comments on P/V's
Turn in P/V's for reconciling when orders are completed
Your assigned work area needs to be cleaned at the end of each shift
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must be able to read tape measures, calipers, micrometers and production vouchers
