JOB SUMMARY: Reports to the Hotel Manager and Hotel Director. Devotes herself/himself to ensuring satisfaction of customers. Determines management, production and quality requirements by asking questions and listening. Attends company meetings as required. Maintains a follow‑up system that encourages follow through with assigned projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Counsels, guides, trains and instructs all employees working in the hotel area in their duties.
Confers with the sales/marketing department to ensure that the highest room occupancy rates are achieved.
Handles the critical day‑to‑day hotel functions, including employee schedules.
Maintains effective and efficient department procedures and controls, and ensures that all departments with the hotel operations are scheduled properly for maximum coverage during peak hours.
Oversees the front desk computer system and coordinates any necessary modifications.
Shows special recognition of frequent guests.
Maintains communication and cooperation with other shifts and departments to keep employees informed of all pertinent information, including sending out a daily newsletter to all employees.
Handles complaints from employees and guests in a prompt, courteous manner.
Assists the Hotel Manager with operating forecasts and other required departmental reports.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to effectively communicate with guests, team members, supervisors, and external organizations.
Must be computer literate with MS Word, Outlook, and Excel. Opera experience is a plus. Must possess outstanding interpersonal communication skills.
Must be self‑motivated and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Must have the ability to see, speak clearly and listen carefully in order to communicate with hotel departments and external guests.
Must have the ability to withstand noisy and smoke‑filled environments.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. All employees must be knowledgeable of all company policies and procedures, including fire and safety regulations. Must be twenty‑one (21) years of age or older.
Previous managerial experience preferred.
Two (2) years of front office supervisory experience is preferred.
Previous experience in most aspects of hotel operations is essential.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or the equivalent.
Must be able to effectively communicate in English in both written and oral forms.
