JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs specialized work associated with operations and maintenance of a water treatment plant to ensure compliance with state regulatory requirements.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors operations to determine efficiency of the Water Treatment Plant and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Checks for signs of equipment and treatment deficiencies.
Monitors charts denoting water levels in ground and elevated storage tanks.
Reviews and analyzes data results and instrument readings.
Inspects equipment and monitors operating conditions, meters, and gauges to determine load requirements and detect malfunctions.
Makes required adjustments.
Oversees operations of injection wells.
Maintains all daily logs.
Serves on standby crew for after-hours emergency work as required.
Works rotating shift, 24/7/ 365.
Performs other related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience in working with the maintenance/construction of a water treatment plant system is preferred.
Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, and criminal history background check.
Must have a valid Texas driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to read, understand, and follow written and oral job instructions.
Ability to hear clearly when working around equipment or in street and alley traffic.
Knowledge of the procedures pertaining to the installation, maintenance, and repair of a water treatment plant or membrane system.
Knowledge of materials, equipment, and methods employed in water or sewer main construction or maintenance.
Skilled in the use and care of job-related hand and power tools, materials, and equipment.
Working knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, other departments, and the general public.
Skilled in courteously and effectively working with the public.
Other Conditions of Employment
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class “D” Water Certificate of Competency within one (1) year of appointment.
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class “C” Groundwater Certificate of Competency within two (2) years of appointment.
