Location:

Remote Sensing Laboratory, Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, NV (RSL-N)

Compensation Annual Salary Range:

$70,262.40 - $105,393.60

per year. Starting salary determined based on market value, education, experience, and internal equity.

Mission MSTS manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Our mission is to assure national security through high‑hazard experimentation, incident response, and environmental stewardship. We provide engineering, field, and integration services to meet complex nuclear security challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and servicing on DOE aircraft (Beechcraft B‑350, Bell‑412/212, Leonardo AW139).

Cooperate with FAA and manufacturer regulations, including Parts 91, 65, 43, and 21.

Manage standby requirements: 2–3 weeks at a time (occasionally longer), receive $40 per day, and maintain readiness within 2 hours of base.

Deploy on emergency or non‑emergency missions for several weeks.

Assist with integration, removal, and modification of mission equipment.

Coordinate requisition of parts and materials with stockroom personnel.

Operate and maintain ground support equipment.

Ensure compliance with airworthiness programs and provide input to maintenance procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Associate degree with 5 years progressive experience or High School diploma with 7 years progressive experience.

FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.

Proficiency in troubleshooting turbine‑powered aircraft systems and FAA regulations.

Strong oral, written, and electronic communication skills; Microsoft Office proficiency.

Participation in Deployment Authorization Program (DAP); ability to travel, work non‑standard hours, and deploy on short notice.

Physical capability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Experience with Beechcraft B‑350, Bell‑412/212, Leonardo AW139, or Pratt & Whitney PT6 series engines is desired.

Valid driver’s license.

Pre‑placement physical exam, including drug screening; subject to random testing.

Security & Background Requirement MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct pre‑employment drug testing and background review (references, credit, law enforcement, employment/education verification). Candidates must obtain and maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship, minimum 18 years of age, and adherence to DOE personnel security regulations.
