Job Description Cashier/Line Basic Function and Responsibility: Responsibilities include calculating, with the use of a register, customer purchases and collecting appropriate payment (cash, meal card or credit card). Follows prescribed procedures involving cash handling, use of the register, proper collection, or recording of customer and employee meals. Assists in setting up of food items in service area, stocking supplies, cleaning in service area and dining room as necessary or directed by manager or supervisor. Medium to heavy lifting is required.
Characteristic Duties:
Project a friendly, helpful attitude toward customers and contribute to customer satisfaction.
Assist in setting up condiments, juices, bread and rolls, coffee stations, flatware and tray stations or other assigned tasks prior to the beginning of a meal period.
Check cash drawer before starting to ensure proper balance.
Check register to ensure it is set and operating properly as well as other supplies necessary for operation.
Perform normal cashier duties, ring in sales and collect payment.
At the end of meal period, log out register, count money and give money drawer and log‑out report to Lead/Cashier, manager/supervisor.
Participate in BC's annual PCI compliance training as well as Data Security.
When not cashiering, help set up serving area, restock, and clean equipment, dining room tables and chairs.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervision Received: Reports to General Manager, Assistant General Manager, and Assistant Managers.
Supervision Exercised: May assist in monitoring other cashiers or student employees.
Hiring Range: $24.30/hr to $25.57/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.
Requirements Qualifications:
High School diploma preferred. Additional relevant experience may substitute for education.
Previous experience is helpful but not necessary; incumbent can be trained on the job.
Must be able to read and write English.
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced operation with a diverse staff.
Good interpersonal skills.
Must be able to lift moderately heavy objects, up to 50 pounds, on an ongoing basis.
