Agency Overview The Ohio Attorney General’s Office has played a vital role in shaping Ohio’s past and present and the work it does today helps chart the state’s future. The office consists of nearly 30 distinct sections that advocate for consumers and victims of crime, assist the criminal justice community, provide legal counsel for state offices and agencies, and enforce certain state laws. In these and other capacities, staff members interact with tens of thousands of Ohioans each year.

Location United States of America, Ohio, Franklin County – Columbus

Schedule Full‑time. Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Hybrid in‑person/remote schedule; changes may occur based on training and operational needs.

Job Description We are seeking three experienced, licensed attorneys to serve as Assistant Attorney General in the Health and Human Services Section. This litigation‑oriented section represents state agencies in healthcare, licensing, and public‑benefit areas. Positions will primarily involve representing state‑agency clients in administrative hearings sanctioning health care providers and defending agencies against lawsuits in state and federal court. Candidates must have strong oral, written, and verbal communication skills, the ability to articulate complex legal matter, and a record of creativity and innovation.

Responsibilities Represent state‑agency clients in administrative hearings sanctioning health care providers who have violated licensing and other laws.

Defend state‑agency clients from lawsuits in state and federal courts.

Perform other duties as assigned, including litigation on behalf of agencies and defending agencies against suits in all state and federal courts.

Qualifications

Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio, pursuant to Section 4705.01 of the Ohio Revised Code.

Experience with administrative appeals.

Strong writing skills.
