Position Summary The Mechanical Engineer supports the design, development, and production of electrothermal propulsion hardware for aerospace applications. This role spans concept development through production support, with a strong emphasis on precision mechanical design, hardware integration, and close collaboration with manufacturing and test teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for electrothermal propulsion systems

Create and maintain engineering drawings, models, and specifications

Support hands‑on assembly, integration, and troubleshooting of propulsion hardware

Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs are manufacturable, repeatable, and cost‑effective

Support thermal, structural, and mechanical analyses as required

Support test planning, execution, and post‑test evaluation

Investigate and resolve mechanical issues, nonconformances, and design changes

Participate in design reviews and configuration control activities

Ensure designs comply with aerospace standards and internal quality requirements

Required Qualifications (Must Have)

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or related field)

Strong mechanical design skills and understanding of precision assemblies

Ability to read and create engineering drawings and GD&T

Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)

Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail

Ability to work independently and in cross‑functional teams

Helpful Qualifications

Experience with aerospace propulsion, vacuum systems, or high‑reliability hardware

Experience with thermal or structural analysis tools

Hands‑on experience supporting assembly and test of flight or flight‑like hardware

Familiarity with AS9100, ISO, or similar quality systems

Experience working in prototype or low‑rate production environments

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform hands‑on hardware work and fine motor tasks as required

Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
