Laboratory Director Collaborate with Innovative 3Mers Around the World

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As a single sided tape leader in IATD (Lab Director), you will have the opportunity to apply your skills and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. This includes:

Developing and implementing the global R&D strategy with a focus on accelerating the reinvigoration of innovation and commercialization of new products in IATD’s.

Advancing the NPI cadence for the division including strengthening the NPI pipeline to take a step change in the NPI launch cadence.

Leading the initiatives required to advance the R&D strategy around increasing the NPI effectiveness, NPI capacity and NPI commercial scale necessary to meet our strategic targets.

Allocating R&D resources to highest priorities including shifting R&D resources to product development.

Building capabilities in the relevant platforms including technology, product development, product engineering, customer insights and intellectual property.

Your Skills and Expertise

Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.

Seven (7) years of R&D/innovation leadership experience in a private, public, government or military environment.

Additional Qualifications

Advanced engineering degree.

Experience with adhesives highly preferred.

Skills include ability to guide an organization on a turnaround journey, leading by influence with cross functional partners, communication with and across all levels, and proactive and self-driven leadership.

Demonstrated experience with driving growth through new product development and commercialization.

Ability to build and implement an R&D strategy building the required NPI pipeline, roadmap and NPI portfolio to implement a turnaround on innovation and new products.

Experience leading labs that support and bring innovation to large, demanding key accounts.

A proven track record of leading lab organization that can work at the fast pace of customers with high urgency.

Ability to build new capabilities and technology readiness to drive value and differentiation of the new product portfolio.

Inclusive leadership of the global technical teams.

Strong business acumen with ability to align to and execute technical strategies across both developed and developing markets.

Global lab leadership of the Engineered Industrial Single Sided Tapes portfolio with multiple lab sites and customers across the world.

Key account engagement from engineering to executive levels.

Leveraging and driving alignment with the Corporate Research Labs (CRL alignment is key to our successes).

Work Location Maplewood, MN

Travel May include up to 10% domestic/international.

The expected compensation range for this position is $228,040 - $278,715, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
