Brief Job Description
The Parish Business Office Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the parish business office assisting the Business Manager. This position is responsible for administrative tasks, record-keeping, filing and other financial tasks helping to ensure the smooth functioning of parish activities. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to handle multiple responsibilities with professionalism and discretion working individually and as part of a team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provides assistance with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions including, but not limited to, opening, coding, processing and inputting invoices and check requests.
Inputs Sunday collection envelopes and online giving information into the parish database system, prepares collection bags and control log sheets for weekly collection.
Enters data into the SSPP School tuition management system and retrieves reports from that system.
Assists and completes bank account reconciliations.
Completes and sends thank you letters and gift substantiation letters.
Assists in maintaining organized filing systems.
Fills in for Parish Administrative Assistant when needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Required Education / Experience
Strong organization and time‑management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
Strong interpersonal skills and a welcoming demeanor.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
1+ years’ experience in a clerical/administrative role preferred.
Familiarity with Roman Catholic parish operations and traditions preferred.
Salary $16.50-17.50/hr
