Tech I: High school diploma or equivalent. Tech II: High school diploma or equivalent plus two years of appropriate experience or college coursework in a related field.
Join our team as a Veterinary OR Surgical Technician! The AAHA-accredited Small Animal Hospital at the University of Florida invites a dedicated Operating Room Technician to support hospital services, especially surgery and anesthesia.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with surgical procedures and routine nursing care, including surgical preparation, aseptic techniques, patient handling, and patient monitoring.
Enter charges, maintain complete records, and check for accuracy.
Maintain aseptic techniques and monitor for breaches.
Assemble surgical supplies, prepare instrument tables, and ensure instruments are correctly sterilized.
Assist anesthesia and other services by restraining patients, setting up equipment, and transporting patients.
Exhibit excellent communication skills and proactively meet the needs of patients and surgeons.
Keep sterile supply areas and adjacent areas clean and organized, checking expiration dates and maintaining equipment.
Clean, prepare, wrap, and sterilize surgical packs and equipment; maintain uncompromising cleanliness throughout the service.
Qualifications
Excellent communication skills and adaptability.
Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and aseptic technique.
Positive attitude, critical thinking, and professionalism.
Willingness to learn new skills and be proactive in a dynamic environment.
Salary: $17 to $20 per hour, depending on experience.
Benefits: Full‑time benefits including health insurance and paid time off; promotional opportunities to a level II title may be available upon achieving appropriate certifications.
Schedule may change due to shift coverage. This position may require work before 8:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m., participation in holiday schedules, and weekend duty. Will be part of the Emergency Response Team.
