Experienced Bookkeeper Needed for Local CPA Firm

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced
Bookkeeper with strong accounting and tax support knowledge
to join our CPA firm. This role requires hands‑on experience with
general ledger accounting, debits and credits, reconciliations, and tax preparation support , not just transaction entry. The ideal candidate understands how financial data flows through the accounting cycle and into tax filings.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and manage
general ledger accounts
for multiple clients
Accurately post and review
debits and credits
with full understanding of account classifications
Perform
bank, credit card, loan, and account reconciliations
Prepare and post
journal entries and adjusting entries
Assist with
month‑end and year‑end close procedures
Prepare, review, and support
financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet)
Support
tax preparation and tax filing processes
(individual and/or business)
Organize and provide documentation for
income tax returns, sales tax, and payroll tax filings
Identify discrepancies, misclassifications, and unreconciled balances
Work closely with CPA and accounting staff to support client deliverables
Use
QuickBooks (Desktop & Online)
as an accounting tool
Maintain audit‑ready documentation and clean client files
Required Qualifications (Non‑Negotiable)
3+ years of true bookkeeping or accounting experience in a CPA firm or accounting environment
Strong working knowledge of:
General Ledger accounting
Debits vs. Credits
Account reconciliations
Journal entries
Accrual vs. cash accounting
Tax preparation and filing support experience required
Ability to reconcile accounts independently
Ability to prepare books for CPA‑level review and tax filing
High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Prior experience working in a CPA firm or public accounting
Payroll tax, sales tax, and multi‑entity experience
QuickBooks Certification
