The Occupational Therapy Assistant at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides skilled technical assistance to the Licensed Occupational Therapist and supports patients in regaining independence and improving quality of life. Cancer and its treatments can sometimes have lasting effects on daily performance, including physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning.
The ideal candidate must have an Associate's Degree, completion of an Occupational Therapy Assistant Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapist Assistant Association, and hold an Occupational Therapist Assistant License issued by the Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners. The candidate must also maintain CPR certification.
The Department of Rehabilitation Services has more than 100 oncology rehabilitation professionals and staff dedicated to optimizing the physical abilities and quality of life of people affected by cancer. Rehabilitation Services offers physical therapy and occupational therapy for patients of all ages and with any type of cancer who are experiencing problems related to cancer or the side effects of surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation treatment. Rehabilitation services are available to all MD Anderson patients who need help regaining physical function.
Hourly breakdown of salary range: Minimum $57,500 | Midpoint $72,000 | Maximum $86,500

Essential Job Functions
Administer occupational therapy care programs or portions thereof as planned and directed by a Licensed Occupational Therapist
Document service delivery and submit all required documentation according to department standards
Meet all department productivity standards and demonstrate financial accountability in billing, documentation, and resource conservation
Participate in maintenance of work area, departmental meetings, and education of students, support personnel, and other health care professionals
Participate in department performance improvement projects
Education Required: Associate's Degree

Licensure/Certification Required: Occupational Therapist Assistant License issued by the Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners. CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation.
