Full Time. 10‑12 hour shifts. Additional details discussed during interview. Sign On Bonus
$20,000 (taxable) bonus paid over 2 years of employment. Not applicable to current staff or former staff who have worked VUMC in the past year. Relocation Bonus
Up to $10,000 (taxable) within 45 days of hire based on mileage. Must relocate from >100 miles to be eligible. Not applicable to current staff or former staff who have worked VUMC in the past year. About the Team
Perioperative Services is a dynamic department with 800+ employees and 68 Adult and 19 Pediatric ORs in Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital. The team implements cutting‑edge surgical technology and assists in procedures ranging from organ transplants to minimally invasive cardio‑thoracic/vascular and reconstructive plastic surgery. Our goal is to provide the best possible patient surgical care. Position Qualifications
Graduate of an approved surgical technologist training program or successful completion of a U.S. Armed Forces surgical technologist training program during service. Min. 1 year of relevant work experience. Certification from one of the listed issuers: NBSTSA CST or NCCT TS‑C. (No certification required if armed forces training program graduate.) Key Responsibilities
Assist the surgeon before, during, and after surgical procedures. Plan, set up, perform, and clean up assigned surgical procedures as a circulator and scrub tech. Perform sharp, sponge, and instrument counts according to policy. Demonstrate knowledge of asepsis principles in creating and maintaining the sterile field. Additional duties may be assigned. Technical Capabilities
Surgical Equipment Knowledge – novice. Procedures Knowledge – fundamental awareness. Operating Room Care – novice. Environmental Sterility & Safety – fundamental awareness.
