Job Summary
Ensure all hard-copy and electronic documents received and generated during the bidding process are filed, stored, and readily retrievable, in compliance with company document control policies and procedures.
Maintain electronic file storage portal for vendors and subcontractors to access bidding documents.
Analyze plans, specifications, RFPs, RFQs, and other documentation for population of estimates/proposals.
Perform take-off of mechanical HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems.
Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to coordinate timely receipt of proposals, obtain cost estimates, and evaluate scopes of work.
Utilize current estimate software to input vendor/subcontractor proposals and labor, material, and equipment estimates.
Draft detailed proposals and scope letters.
Follow awarded contracts, as assigned. Work may include estimating additional work items (value engineering, change orders, procuring material, equipment, etc.) if required.
Essential Duties
Produce take-offs and price estimates.
Obtain scopes of work and pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
Prepare accurate sheet metal, piping, and labor estimates.
Review plans and specifications; provide value engineering for mechanical systems.
Develop detailed lists of qualifications, clarifications, and exclusions to communicate budget assumptions to the client.
Contribute to risk and contingency assessments.
Assist in estimate reviews with construction and preconstruction teams.
Maintain good client/vendor/subcontractor relationships.
Provide input on productivity factors.
Coordinate, attend, and lead meetings: Estimate Reviews, turnover meetings.
Practice and adhere to the "CCI Way".
Perform other duties as required.
Key Qualifications
5+ years experience in the Mechanical HVAC/Plumbing construction industry as a craftsperson.
Proficient in mechanical estimating software (QuoteSoft/Express preferred).
Proficient in Microsoft Excel; basic calculations and formula comprehension.
Strong organizational and self-management skills.
Knowledge & Skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to build and maintain long-term relationships.
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with employees, supervisors, and external parties.
Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and systems.
Read and interpret contract documents; provide feedback for constructability, value engineering, and quality control.
Basic mathematical calculations, balance and reconcile figures, proper punctuation, spelling, and transcription accuracy.
Familiarity with materials, methods, and tools in mechanical and plumbing construction (commercial buildings, hospitals, data centers, food processing, manufacturing).
Ability to read engineered drawings, specifications, RFQs, RFPs, and bid documents for Mechanical HVAC and plumbing trades.
Knowledge of relevant codes, policies, procedures, and strategies for compliance.
Planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, controlling all aspects of the bidding process.
Ability to work with customers to find mutually satisfactory solutions to difficult issues.
Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Project, and Word.
