Job Overview The Maintenance Planner & Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and scheduling maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime in a manufacturing environment. This role involves collaborating with various departments to develop maintenance plans, manage resources, and implement preventive maintenance programs.
Job Responsibilities Maintenance Planning
Develop and maintain a comprehensive maintenance schedule for all equipment and machinery.
Schedule/reschedule services as priorities and availability shift.
Preventive Maintenance
Create and implement preventive maintenance programs to enhance equipment reliability.
Monitor and analyze maintenance trends to recommend improvements.
Resource Management
Coordinate with maintenance technicians and supervisors to allocate resources effectively.
Coordinate service requests with vendors or suppliers.
Maintain parts room, ensure availability of necessary parts and materials for maintenance tasks.
Work Order Management
Create, track, and close work orders using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including labor hours and materials used.
Collaboration
Work closely with cross‑functional team to minimize disruptions.
Report to management on work order completion rates; schedule compliance and other metrics needed to convey performance and opportunities for improvement.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.
Stay updated on industry best practices and new maintenance technologies.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Proficiency in CMMS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to effectively communicate with other technicians, operators, and leadership to maintain a high level of cooperation among all departments.
Commitment to safety and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including OSHA, FDA, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
Education & Experience
High School diploma or equivalent.
2+ years of maintenance planning/scheduling experience in manufacturing (food production preferred).
Experience with CMMS programs used for preventative maintenance, work orders, and spare parts tracking.
Work Environment
Exposure to both the office setting and food manufacturing facility.
Significant amount of time working at a computer station.
Occasional visits to various areas of the manufacturing floor.
Must wear required PPE while in all manufacturing areas.
Moving parts and machinery are present in the plant.
Physical Demands
Frequent sitting, standing, or walking.
Occasional ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Ability to physically perform functions of repetitive motion, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, balancing, and climbing.
Noise levels will vary, higher noise levels exist while in the plant operations areas.
