Description Summary Associate that demonstrates knowledge of cardiac arrhythmias with the ability to recognize normal and abnormal rhythms. Requisitions supplies, equipment and services as needed and/or directed by Clinical Director. Collaborates with other Clinical Associates to meet individual patient needs, using available resources to insure quality, cost effective care.

Responsibilities

Responsible for continuous observation of the heart rhythms of patients being monitored on central telemetry; aware of baseline rhythm for all patients monitoring

Communicates changes rhythms, ectopy, etc. to appropriate nursing associate; ensures all communications are documented in appropriate log

Accurately performs clerical tasks related to the patient’s medical record, places reports (12 hour strip review, alarm records) on the medical record in a timely manner

Communicates effectively with interdisciplinary team. Communicates appropriately with physicians, staff members, patient/family members. Facilitates communication to appropriate caregivers. Ability to effectively utilize telephone and fax

Performs assigned department maintenance duties. Ensures transmitter inventory is conducted, transmitters are clean, functioning properly, etc. to ensure readiness for next patient. Notifies Director and Biomedical Engineering of any transmitter and/or pager malfunctions in a timely manner

Demonstrates department teamwork, follows directions promptly and courteously

Assures routine department functioning. Accurately reports discharges/transfers promptly. Answers the telephone, takes messages, and directs calls. Keeps work area clean and organized

Demonstrates professionalism in teamwork and communication. Exhibits initiative in accepting responsibility for own actions.

Assures compliance with all JCAHO, OSHA, Infection control, safety and other regulatory standards including privacy and security regulations (HIPPA); is supportive of hospital and department objectives, decisions and policies by deed and speech

Requirements Education/Skills

High School Diploma

Successful completion of Basic Arrhythmia Course

Experience

Knowledge of medical terminology and previous experience

Cardiac/CV experience

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

BLS required

Work Schedule PRN

Work Type Per Diem As Needed
