Position Summary
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Human Resources team is recruiting a Part-Time Computer Technician to support our dynamic and committed HRIS team. This forward-looking team operates as a collaborative and caring partner, ensuring the efficient delivery of HR services across the institution. We are committed to integrity, service excellence, and a positive, forward-thinking approach in meeting the needs of those we serve. The Computer Technician provides hands-on technical support for departmental hardware, software, and network-related functions, while helping maintain a secure and compliant technology environment. Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and support department computer hardware and software programs Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of computer systems and peripheral equipment Provide day-to-day technical support for local area network operations and assist with basic networking functions Manage HR shared Active Directory (AD) domains and user access Provide data entry support and assist with departmental database management Partner with internal departments to resolve networking and application issues affecting end users Support department in HR technology initiatives Security & Compliance Responsibilities
Foster an environment of heightened information security in accordance with Information Technology Security Policies Participate in required annual security and compliance training, including but not limited to:
HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
Qualifications
Associate's degree in Computer Science or a related field required. OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Preferred Qualifications
