Job Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily inbound and outbound logistics operations within a glass fabrication facility. This role ensures accurate material handling, safe movement of glass products, timely shipments, and effective coordination between production, logistics, and transportation teams. The Team Lead provides hands‑on leadership, enforces safety standards, and drives continuous improvement in warehouse efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Shipping & Receiving Operations
Lead and coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities for raw glass, fabricated products, and related materials to be loaded on trucks
Verify incoming materials against purchase orders and production requirements
Ensure outgoing shipments are accurate, properly packaged, labeled, and secured for safe transport
Schedule and coordinate carriers, delivery windows, and dock assignments
Team Leadership
Supervise, train, and mentor shipping and receiving associates
Assign work, monitor productivity, and ensure coverage for all shifts
Enforce company's 4‑non negotiables: Attendance, Safety, Attitude, Quality. In addition, push G+MC culture by setting performance expectations.
Provide coaching, corrective action, and performance feedback as needed
Safety & Compliance
Enforce strict safety procedures for handling glass, racks, crates, and heavy materials
Ensure proper use of PPE, forklifts, cranes, and material‑handling equipment
Maintain OSHA compliance and support safety audits and incident investigations
Inventory & Documentation
Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP/WMS systems
Oversee staging, storage, and rack organization to prevent damage and delays
Ensure all shipping documents (BOLs, packing lists, manifests) are accurate and complete
Cross‑Department Coordination
Work closely with Production, Quality, and Customer Service teams to meet delivery schedules
Communicate delays, shortages, or quality concerns proactivelySupport continuous improvement initiatives to reduce damage, rework, and shipping errors
Qualifications Required
2+ years of shipping and receiving experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
1+ years in a lead or supervisory role
Experience handling fragile or heavy materials (glass)
Forklift certification or ability to become certified
Strong understanding of warehouse safety practices
Preferred
Experience in glass fabrication or building materials industry
Familiarity with A‑frames, glass racks, crates, and oversized loads
ERP/WMS experience (e.g.,Fenevision)
Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, inventory systems)
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 80 lbs with assistance
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and temperature variations
