Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor Trainee Needed! Position Overview The Counselor Trainee will assist patients through medically assisted programs and offer techniques for handling opioid addiction. The counselor conducts group and individual sessions to help with crisis management and coping strategies. The counselor also evaluates patients’ progress during therapy. Addiction counselors may collaborate with doctors, nurses and therapists to provide the best overall outcome.
Responsibilities
Conducts individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination
Facilitates, establishes and reviews with each patient the initial treatment plan
Completes Bio-psychosocial assessment.
Involve families and significant others in patient’s recovery process whenever possible
Develop aftercare plans and discharge plans
Ability to handle stressful situations and interact with others
Other related duties as determined by supervisor
Qualifications
Applicants must currently hold an ADT or ADT eligible status in the State of Maryland.
Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is a plus. Must demonstrate a positive, non‑judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population.
Satisfactory criminal background and drug screen
Salary Range Salary ranges from $44,000–$80,000 annualized. This position is non‑exempt, overtime eligible with prior approval.
The salary will be set based on experience, education, licensure, and training.
