Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY:

This position has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce safety as a core value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to food safety & quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Attend and actively participates in safety meetings and trainings

Always ensure regulatory compliance

Attendance is essential to perform job

Receive and prepare raw, in-process, and finished product samples for microbiological analysis.

Maintain accurate and legible documentation

Practice Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs)

Review all test results against established specifications and standards. Perform product holds and release as applicable.

Perform laboratory analysis per MFI standardized test methods and lab requirements to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

Perform equipment check and safety monitoring as required

Assist in maintaining the lab’s quality control system

Perform bacterial identifications and maintain lab database

Sterilize microbiological wastes and biohazards

Sample pickup (if needed)

Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety

Adhere to all safety policies and procedures

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications EDUCATION, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Associate degree (AA) or equivalent combination of education, training and or experience.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and or experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Driver’s license

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Workers are required to wear proper PPE such as hair nets, ear plugs, and certain areas require earmuffs

Occasional bending, standing, stooping, pushing, pulling, and repetitive hand movement

Frequent periods of sitting

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Ability to ascend and descend stairs

Exposure to changes in temperature and humidity

Manufacturing plant is a large, open floor. Some areas have loud machineries, and some areas are wet.

The pay range for this position is $49,459 - $67,265 per year.
