**Compensation:**$17.82**Compensation Type:**Hourly**Employment Type:**Casual**FLSA:**Non-Exempt**Scheduled Weekly Hours:**20**Position Summary**The Photography Technician manages and maintains photography department facilities and equipment. Supervises technical usage of those facilities and equipment by students and faculty. Contributes to equipment procurement, maintenance and repair. Provides administrative and logistical support for student-based photography productions, seminar classes, and trainings. The Photography Technician may supervise assigned student employees and volunteers.**Duties & Responsibilities*** Assists in the management of photography lab including scheduling and managing reservations for studios and darkrooms.* Oversees check-out and return of equipment to faculty, staff, and students and provides support when necessary. Tracks inventory and equipment usage in classrooms, labs and experiential training programs.* Supports instructional activities by preparing necessary materials and resources.* Identifies and facilitates repairs, maintenance, and needed upgrades, and ensures safety compliance for labs and equipment used in education and experiential training programs.* Works with hazardous materials and follows appropriate safety procedures to ensure proper usage, storage, and disposal.* Recommends, procures, and maintains relationships with vendors for the purchase and upkeep of laboratory and photography equipment, materials, and supplies.* Provides inventory data support and assists program chair to plan equipment and facility budgets.* Tracks fiscal documents and records, including faculty requests, expenditure files, purchase orders, student time tracking, and documents that pertain to equipment and labs.* Trains students in technologies and safe lab operations. Schedules and manages the lab monitors.* Maintains and coordinates a clean and safe learning environment in the laboratory, classroom, laboratory office, and storage areas.**Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:****Knowledge of:*** Photography principles, workflows, and technologies (analog and digital).* Photography equipment, lighting systems, and lab environments.* Laboratory safety standards and hazardous materials regulations.* Inventory control, equipment lifecycles, and asset management.* Procurement and fiscal documentation practices in educational settings.**Skills in:*** Organizing and coordinating shared technical resources.* Troubleshooting photography and imaging equipment.* Maintaining accurate inventory and fiscal records.* Applying and communicating safety procedures.* Training and supporting users with varied technical experience.* Communicating effectively with faculty, students, staff, and vendors.**Ability to:*** Adapt to evolving technologies and instructional needs.* Assess technical issues and exercise sound judgment.* Manage priorities in a fast-paced academic environment.* Work independently and collaboratively.* Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive learning environment.**Minimum Qualifications:*** High school degree or equivalent.* Three (3) years of job-related experience.**Preferred Qualifications:*** Completed educational coursework in photography production.**Schedule Designation:*** Part-time temporary (no more than 20 hours/week), based on assigned work schedule.* **This role will be required to work onsite in Santa Fe, New Mexico.****Physical Demands and Working Conditions:*** The work is typically performed while standing, walking, bending, or stooping.* The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, uses tools or equipment requiring ahigh degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.* The work is typically performed in a photography studio.
