Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position. Stackable Pay Incentives : $2.00/hr PM shift differential + Weekend differential of $1.75/hr. Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Emergency Department Technician functions as a member of the emergency department patient care team, under supervision of the registered nurse. The emergency department technician I performs basic patient care procedures to provide for the care, comfort, and safety of patients, including, but not limited to, taking vital signs, assisting patients with activities of daily living, specimen collection, performing ECGs, post-mold application, crutch-walk teaching, spinal immobilization, basic wound care, and observation of patients for physical/emotional changes. Other duties include recording pertinent information in patient charts and communicating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care.
Responsibilities
Take vital signs and monitor patient condition.
Assist patients with activities of daily living.
Collect specimens and perform ECGs as directed.
Assist with post-mold application, crutch-walk teaching, and spinal immobilization.
Provide basic wound care and observe patients for physical or emotional changes.
Record pertinent information in patient charts and communicate with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School/GED
Licenses/Certifications: American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR
CNA in the State of Work, OR; EMT-B, License in the State of Illinois
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Six or more months experience in a clinical healthcare environment
Able to communicate effectively in person; by telephone; and computer messaging
Six or more months experience in supporting physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of patients
