Job Summary The Mechanic II is responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and vehicles. This position supports and works with personnel across various departments to keep critical equipment running efficiently.

Responsibilities

Inspect and repair company/utility equipment such as pickup trucks, line trucks, trailers, mini excavators, digger derricks, backhoes, compressors, and generators in a safe, timely, and cost‑effective manner.

Troubleshoot diesel and gasoline engines.

Perform road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment to ensure quality of repairs and service.

Place orders for required parts, materials, and supplies as needed.

Prepare and maintain records and reports.

Monitor prioritized projects, activities, and assignments to ensure compliance with deadlines.

Maintain tools, supplies, and workstations in a clean, safe, and presentable manner.

Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

Qualifications Minimum

MUST HAVE OWN TOOLS; ¼" up to 2""

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid driver’s license.

CDL class A/B or ability to receive within 90 days of employment.

3 years of experience.

Knowledge of vehicle and equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, and diagnostics.

Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures.

Ability to perform tune‑ups, engine work, hydraulic work, cylinder replacement, pressure setting for backhoe, basic engine repair, and electrical repair.

Basic diesel and drivetrain experience.

Ability to use cut‑torch and basic welding skills.

Knowledge of minor heavy equipment repairs.

Ability to work in inclement weather.

Availability to work Monday‑Friday, 7 am‑5:30 pm.

Preferred

4 or more years of experience.

DOT Certified Flagger.

CDL Class A license.

Formal education or training in mechanical equipment repair.

Air brake certification.
