Machinist (fixed-term)

Overview Element has an opportunity for an Entry-Level Machinist (fixed term, up to 3 months). As a member of the Operations team, this role performs a variety of routine and non-routine machining assignments within the assigned department. Under direct supervision, the Machinist ensures accurate and timely preparation of test specimens in accordance with customer specifications, quality standards, and company procedures. This position requires proficiency in core business and safety practices, including adherence to established safety rules, the company code of conduct, and all applicable policies and procedures.

Salary: $22- $24/hour (Depending on Experience)

Responsibilities

Operate cutting and machining equipment to prepare specimens for testing in accordance with customer specifications

Set up and perform basic machining tasks following established instructions and requirements

Accurately gather, measure, and record specimen dimensions in compliance with quality assurance standards

Assist with equipment care, maintenance, and scheduled preventative maintenance activities

Follow laboratory and machine shop safety protocols at all times

Apply technical machining knowledge to meet customer expectations under supervision

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Skills / Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred; college, technical, or vocational coursework in machining or manufacturing welcomed

Basic understanding of machining concepts, measuring instruments, and dimensional principles

Familiarity with laboratory and/or machine shop safety practices

Basic computer proficiency (data entry, documentation, and system use)

Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts is a plus

Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

Work Environment This role is primarily performed in a laboratory and machine shop environment and requires adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Moderate physical effort required

Ability to lift less than 50 lbs frequently

Ability to stand for extended periods of time
