Supplier Quality Engineer

to join our Mission Systems sector in Amherst, NY. This role focuses on quality management of supplier processes for advanced simulation systems.

What You Get To Do

Proactively manage Supplier Quality risks, driving down supplier escapes.

Develop and implement supplier quality evaluation and control systems.

Assure supplier process and product quality, including contractual, regulatory, and technical compliance.

Perform Specification/Drawing Compliance Reviews, First Article Inspections, and support Receiving Inspection on categories such as Printed Wiring Boards (PWB), Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA), cables and connectors, microelectronics, electro‑mechanical systems, and mechanical components & assemblies.

Interface directly with supplier personnel and assess supplier quality and manufacturing processes.

Conduct product and process verification activities, monitor supplier quality performance, and drive root‑cause corrective action analysis for supplier quality issues.

Support maintenance of the approved supplier list and periodically review supplier performance.

Manage supplier requests for waivers, deviations, and the discrepancy reporting process.

Keep management informed of supplier performance, quality status, and risks. Coordinate and oversee implementation of the Supplier Quality plan throughout all program phases.

Actively engage in supplier evaluation, qualification, and selection as part of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) and for new procurements.

Manage implementation of Supplier Quality processes: approval activities, source selection evaluations, supplier classification designation (Critical, Key, and Standard), risk assessments, mitigation plans, and requirement flow‑downs.

Travel to suppliers as needed to support the program.

Basic Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and a minimum of 2 years of experience in quality and/or supply chain.

Willing to travel up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience facilitating Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).

Defense industry experience, including interfacing with suppliers.

Experience in a quality, supplier quality role.

SAP Business System experience.

Experience with ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management System certification process.
