Job Summary
The Terminal Operator participates in the loading and unloading of cement at the terminal. This position requires hands‑on operation of terminal equipment, developing a familiarity with bulk truck and rail car operations. The Cement Terminal Operator must perform all duties in a safety‑conscious manner and in compliance with all applicable environmental laws and policies.

Responsibilities
Operate railcar mover to spot and unload bottom dump and pressure diffential railcars in a safe manner
Load and unload bulk trucks and railcars using a semi‑automated loading system; operate a computer billing system
Monitor product movement to and from storage tanks, coordinating activities with other workers to ensure efficient operation of the cement terminal
Record operating data such as products/quantities transferred, gauge readings and operating times
Accurately and courteously take orders from customers over the phone
Manually track inventory and provide reports as required
Perform and assist other Terminal Operators in all required tasks at the terminal (loading, unloading, troubleshooting, repairs, installations, equipment preventative maintenance, housekeeping, maintaining accurate records, etc.)
Operate weigh devices as Weigh Master
Operate all mobile equipment: forklift, boom/scissor lift, track loader, front loader, sweeper, ect.
Keep cement plant facilities clean and orderly, including the restroom
Complete daily checks on all tickets received and shipped
Follow all CalPortland and WorkSafe safety rules and procedures
Communicate in a professional and effective manner with co‑workers, customers, and anyone else while performing the job
Perform other duties as necessary and assigned
Education High school diploma or GED equivalent
Requirements / Qualifications
Physical requirements: able to work in confined spaces, climb up to elevations of 10 to 100 ft., and lifting of up to 75 Ibs. ( 50 Ibs. frequent / 75 Ibs. occasional)
Climbing, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, driving, riding, twisting, pushing/pulling, and riding on rough terrain
Mechanical knowledge: experience with oil changes, equipment inspections, belt alignments, and preventive maintenance inspections
Experience using pneumatic, electric and regular hand tools (ex., chipping guns, jackhammers, grinders, drills, wrenches, ect.)
Clearly and accurately communicate both verbally and in writing
Able to read, write, and speak in English
Computer skills including Excel, Word, SAP, and HMI systems
Ability to see and hear safety indicators and warnings
Must work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry, and/or dusty conditions
Will have exposure to levels of noise that require the use of double hearing protection
Must be self‑directed and able to work with little or no supervision, as well as part of a team
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
Able to work varying and flexible workdays and hour
Normal business hours: Monday – Friday 2 AM – 2 PM
Additional hours may be required, including weekends
Preferred Welding and cutting skills
Terminal/Plant maintenance experience
Rail moving experience
Conditions of Employment Successful candidate must submit to post‑offer pre‑employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on‑going drug and alcohol testing.
