Maintenance Technician
Shepard Steel is a structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabrication company that has been an integral part of the Connecticut construction landscape for over 65 years. With a staff of approximately 100 talented professionals, we fabricate approximately 12,000 tons of steel per year and invest heavily in state‑of‑the‑art fabrication equipment.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the General Manager and Maintenance Supervisor, perform general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and property infrastructure, including welding machines, overhead cranes, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, and other systems.
Perform preventive maintenance on a regular schedule.
Maintain inventory of production supplies and repair parts for factory equipment.
Coordinate machine repairs with remote technical support.
Complete inspections of safety systems.
Respond quickly to emergencies, notify appropriate personnel, and follow safety protocol.
Perform general automotive repair and maintenance.
Operate snow removal equipment such as plow trucks, skid steers, and snow blowers.
Perform other maintenance duties as requested.
Required Skills
High school diploma or equivalent.
Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Valid driver's license.
Physically capable of lifting, pushing, pulling up to 70 pounds without assistance.
Physically capable of bending, twisting, and standing for long periods.
Can work well with minimal supervision and collaborate with other technicians.
Strong prioritization skills and ability to follow specified procedures.
Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and maintains a positive attitude.
Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Must be willing to submit a drug test and background check.
