Nature of Work
To aid or direct traffic within the Village of Schiller Park;
To aid in control of natural or man-made disasters; To aid in case of civil disorder as directed by a Village Employee holding a Position in the Classified Services.
Examples of Essential Job Functions
Direct or assist with traffic control at traffic crash scenes, flooding, and local events; Guide citizens across busy streets;
Assists stranded motorists;
Enforce parking and ordinance regulations and issue citations for violations;
Crowd control at local events or on other occasions.
Note: Auxiliary Officers are normally assigned to assist full-time personnel in the daily delivery of quasi-law enforcement services, community relations, and for selected emergency/disaster operations if needed. They are not considered sworn Police Officers with the power of arrest.
Requirements
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent;
Must live in Leyden Township, Illinois;
Must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license;
Applicants must have a professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills;
Applicants must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.
A background check, along with drug, polygraph and psychological screening may be required.
