Job Description:

providing civil legal assistance to low-income and asset-constrained individuals and families. We are seeking a motivated, compassionate entry-level attorney to join our growing team and serve our community through high-impact legal work.

Position Overview The Staff Attorney will provide direct legal services to clients in a multi-disciplinary legal aid environment, with a primary focus on family law and immigration matters, as well as other civil legal issues commonly faced by underserved populations. This is a full-time, in-office position offering meaningful courtroom experience, client interaction, and mentorship in a mission-driven setting.

CCLA will consider recent graduates, newly licensed attorneys, and qualified 3Ls awaiting bar results.

Practice Areas May Include

Family law matters (including divorce, SAPCR, custody, guardianships, and related issues)

Immigration matters (including humanitarian and family-based cases)

Estate planning for low-income clients (wills and related documents)

Other civil legal aid matters as assigned based on community needs

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct legal representation and advice to clients under attorney supervision when applicable

Conduct client interviews, case assessments, and legal research

Draft pleadings, motions, correspondence, and other legal documents

Appear in court and at administrative hearings, as permitted by licensure status

Collaborate with supervising attorneys, paralegals, and volunteers

Participate in legal clinics and community outreach events

Maintain accurate case records and comply with organizational policies and ethical standards

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Licensed to practice in Texas or eligible for licensure; 3Ls waiting bar results will be considered.

Strong interest in legal aid and public service work

Desire to practice in a multi-disciplinary environment, including family law and immigration

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines

Commitment to professionalism, empathy, and client-centered advocacy
