Job Summary
Oil Rig Jobs is seeking a dedicated and experienced Offshore Safety Officer to join our team. The Offshore Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role involves working on offshore oil rigs to safeguard the health and safety of personnel while maintaining operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and enforce health and safety policies specific to offshore environments.
Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments on oil rigs.
Train crew members on safety protocols, emergency response plans, and the proper use of safety equipment.
Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Collaborate with rig management to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Maintain compliance with all local, national, and international safety regulations.
Prepare and submit detailed safety reports to management.
Oversee the implementation of safety drills and emergency evacuation procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent safety certification.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in offshore oil rig safety management.
In-depth knowledge of offshore drilling operations and safety practices.
Proficiency in hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively under high-pressure conditions.
Physical fitness to meet offshore work requirements.
Experience
5+ years in a similar role on offshore oil rigs or related industries.
Proven track record of enhancing safety standards and reducing incidents.
Working Hours
Rotational schedule: 28 days on, 28 days off.
Extended hours during emergencies or critical operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Comprehensive understanding of safety legislation and industry best practices.
Skilled in emergency response planning and execution.
Ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
Proficiency in report writing and data analysis for safety metrics.
