Meyer Utility Structures is searching for a Health and Safety Coordinator for 2nd shift in our Gadsden, AL manufacturing plant. In this role, you will be assisting with the development, communication, implementation, monitoring and auditing of health and safety programs within Meyer Utility Structures.
Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa subsidiary, is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete, lattice, and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications. With over sixty years of innovative engineering and manufacturing expertise, Meyer has helped to author and validate many of today’s transmission industry standards and specifications.
What You'll Do:
Audit plant shop areas and work with plant management and supervisors to implement actions for the correction of hazardous situations to comply with OSHA, EPA, company and/or DOT regulations
Prepare and maintain records concerning occupational injuries and illnesses ensuring reports are in compliance with regulatory requirements
Administer first aid to employees
Ensure continued adherence of safety rules and procedures
Monitor environmental conditions including housekeeping, painting, welding fumes, and hazardous waste
Investigate employee complaints concerning unsafe working conditions, determining corrective and/or preventive measures
Issue, order, and maintain safety equipment
Respond to workplace safety or security emergencies and issues
Conduct training sessions, such as equipment-specific training (e.g., forklift, telehandler) for new hires or those needing recertification
Responsible for planning own work, assessing own progress and adjusting efforts to meet goals.
What You'll Need:
BS in Occupational Safety highly preferred
High School diploma or equivalent
5 plus years of related experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
First Aid/CPR/AED certified
Knowledge of various software applications (MS Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Must have excellent interpersonal skills
Bi‑Lingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred
Predictable, regular attendance is required
Must be able to work 2nd Shift: Mon - Thurs, 4:15PM – 12:45AM
