The Opportunity Our client, a highly successful and established group, is seeking a commercially minded Financial Controller to join their senior finance team. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you will take full financial responsibility for a key Ltd company within the group and lead management accounting for two entities.
This is a pivotal role that goes beyond standard reporting; you will be a subject matter expert in operational finance, driving efficiency projects and acting as a key business partner to senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Management Accounting: Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts to strict deadlines, ensuring accurate reporting of stocks and maintaining clean balance sheets.
Strategic Insight: Lead efficiency improvement projects, including activity-based costing, scenario planning, and the development of monthly KPIs with actionable commentary.
Compliance & Legislation: Act as the primary point of contact for VAT, Duty, and Tax regarding import/export activities. Ensure full compliance with financial legislation and GDPR frameworks.
Operational Integration: Build a comprehensive understanding of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to optimise controls, performance reporting, and costings.
Budgeting & Partnering: Oversee entity budgets and provide business partnering support to feed into consolidated group budgets.
Project Leadership: Act as a subject matter expert for third-party contracts and lead various finance-led projects across the wider business.
Payroll Support: Assist with Group Payroll in conjunction with the Head of Finance.
What We Are Looking For We are seeking a fully qualified professional with a blend of financial rigour and operational awareness.
Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
Sector Experience: Proven experience within the industrial, manufacturing, or FMCG sectors is highly desirable.
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of IFRS/FRS and a solid background in financial reporting, tax, and duties.
Systems Knowledge: Knowledge and experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Stock Management: A strong background in stock accounting is a distinct advantage.
Communication: An excellent communicator capable of presenting complex financial data clearly to non-finance stakeholders and senior management.
