Position Purpose:
Organizes and directs assigned unit duties to provide quality nursing care to residents.
Essential Functions of Position:
Responsible during the shift for the total nursing care of residents in the assigned unit.
Assumes responsibility for compliance with Federal, State, Local, and company regulations.
Explains procedures and treatments and care plans to residents.
Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
Transcribes physician's orders.
Chart progress notes in an informative, factual manner that reflect the care administered as well as the residents’ response to care.
Receives/gives report from/to nurse he/she is receiving/coming on and records sufficient information and implements appropriate follow-up action as necessary.
Conducts frequent rounds to evaluate effectiveness of care delivery.
Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of resident.
Monitor that C.N. A's documentation is completed daily.
Takes report form C.N.As to facilitate accurate documentation in resident medical record.
Coordinates residents' rehabilitation program with therapists to ensure 24-hour rehabilitation needs are met.
Records new/changed diet orders. Forward information to Dietary Department.
Participate in department or unit quality improvement activities.
Participates and attends periodic in-services and staff meetings.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education / Requirements: Reports to Director of Nursing
Must be skilled in directing, motivating and training staff and able to work as a member of a team; able to communicate effectively with residents, family members and all levels of the organization and maintain confidentiality. Should be a graduate of an accredited RN/LPN School of Nursing with valid RN/LPN state license, and a minimum of 2 years nursing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
