About the role, Your Impact: Baxter & Woodman, Inc. is seeking a Construction Inspector II for our Houston, Texas office, with experience in field observation, construction management and/or public works management. As an inspector, you will provide on-site inspection services for various municipal infrastructure and/or transportation projects. Types of projects include water main, water pumping and booster stations, wastewater treatment plants and lift stations, storm and sanitary collection systems, and water distribution systems, and associated pipelines and structures.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Conduct on-site observation of work, repairs, and testing, as needed.
Observing, measuring, and documenting construction activities on projects, records on Daily Reports, job meeting minutes, updates as-built drawings as needed, investigates customer concerns, and maintains contract document files, assists in engineering-related data collection, inspections, assessments, analysis, and review activities for plan development by others.
Coordinate construction activities with contractors and construction management team, prioritizes time to assure that the most important installations are covered.
Consults with Project Engineers, resident project representatives and contractor’s superintendents on work progress and construction problems; reviews equipment utilization data and time/cost estimates.
Recommend alterations to development and design to improve the quality of projects.
Monitor progress schedule and approved shop drawings.
Resolve construction conflicts and prepare cost-effective solutions.
Endeavor to provide protection for owner against defects and deficiencies in the work.
Maintain records of time, equipment, and material needs for any changes in the work that may result in a change order. Review and request adjustments of compensation and/or contract time.
Coordinate monthly with contractor’s effort to develop Monthly Pay Application on bid quantities as agreed to.
Requires effective communication, both oral and written, with residents, businesses, and public agency representative.
Address resident concerns.
Other duties as needed or assigned.
Education Requirement:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must-haves, what you will bring:
5+ years’ experience in construction management and/or public works management.
Must have experience in the construction of municipal utility infrastructure projects (water mains, sanitary sewer and forcemains, water and wastewater plants, stormwater systems, and roadways).
Ability to travel throughout the greater Houston area and contiguous counties. (own transportation).
Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.
Additional Information:
May require to work on weekends and holidays as necessary.
Required to work under exposure to inclement weather conditions.
Required to wear personal protective equipment provided by employer and comply with all safety requirements.
Compensation The pay range for this role is $30.00 to $38.00. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
