Machinist Repairman
— Power Operations, Power Plants; Fossil Fuel Plants Responsibilities
Under direct, indirect, or intermittent supervision, and working a rotating shift schedule or day schedule as required, perform a general range of plant mechanical equipment installation, repair and overhaul, including the ability to perform skilled machinist work requiring tolerances as low as +/-.0005". Immediate responsibility at times for working directions of an apprentice. Mechanical equipment includes items such as turbines, pumps, compressors, conveyors, pulverizers, coal samplers, feeders, pulleys, overhead cranes, soot blowers, safety valves, blowers, power transmission equipment. Work from drawings and sketches. Check (including Workman\'s Protection Assurance where appropriate) to ensure that equipment to be worked on has been properly isolated and protected. Obtain required materials from storeroom. Set up rigging and operate lifting equipment. Erect and work from scaffolds. Operate and/or use mobile equipment, shop equipment, portable power tools, other portable tools, hand tools and test equipment as required to accomplish assigned jobs. Operate acetylene or other cutting/heating torches; when necessary, check for explosive gases before operating torches. Prepare reports of work done accompanied by sketches, if necessary; complete such forms as may be required. Work alone or in combination with other Machinist Repairman or Repairman classifications when assigned. Do similar and less skilled work as required. Special Responsibilities
Carry out prescribed safety precautions and safeguards for the protection of himself and others. Observe and ensure that those temporarily under his direction observe safety instructions issued or applicable. Perform work without disturbing other equipment. Execute orders quickly and properly. Ensure accuracy of work within required tolerances or specifications. Exercise proper care and watchfulness to avoid errors in the repair and assembly of equipment. Use and care of a wide variety of tools, material, and equipment. Dispose of surplus and scrap materials after each job and keep areas clean and orderly to maintain a safe work environment. Contacts

Full range of temperatures from very hot to sub-freezing with possible sudden changes; subject to noise, dust, dirt, fumes, odors, drafts, and inclement weather. Work may occur in cramped and artificial light environments. Hazards
Subject to hazards from possible equipment failure, danger from falling when working at elevations, and usual hazards of mechanical construction and maintenance work. Occasional exposure to noxious fumes in confined places. Qualifications
Qualification standards as established in the Apprenticeship Program. If no graduating apprentice is available, must satisfy requirements as prescribed in the Supplementary Agreement on Uniform Practices Regarding Promotion to Machinist Repairman Jobs. Must be accurate, steady and calm in emergencies; possess normal physical strength and endurance; and have no color deficiency in vision. Hourly Pay
