What You’ll Do:
Conduct appropriate evaluations, assess the home environment (as appropriate), and identify equipment needs relative to speech/language function.
Identify functional speech defects and establish a plan of care to improve the patient’s function.
Administer diagnostic speech and language evaluations and some basic, informal audio logical assessment in accordance with the plan of care.
Recommend communication devices/aids as indicated.
Prepare a report of each client’s diagnostic evaluation and make recommendations.
Advise, consult and teach appropriate procedures and supportive activities to clients, family members, and other agency staff.
Provide direct speech service to clients under a provider’s plan of care. Record and report to the provider the client’s response to therapy.
Qualifications:
Possess certification of clinical competence in speech from the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
Licensed as a speech therapist in the state in which you practice.
At least one (1) year of acute care setting or equivalent experience.
Possess knowledge of principles and practices of speech therapy.
Comply with and maintain current CPR certification.
Ability to make home visits and provide nursing care in the home environment.
Must have reliable transportation, a current driver’s license, and appropriate automobile insurance.
