This includes, but is not limited to collaborating with the medical school community to develop and implement curriculum assessment evaluations, providing faculty with reliable and useful data on the the teacing and learning process for of the medical school. Supporting scholarship in education, research, clinical teaching, assessment and curricular design providing data to foster innovative initiatives in medical education.
This position serves as the expert for the Medical Schools evaluation program and ensure evaluations are created, scheduled, and deployed for the medical school activities and courses. Works closely with the Offices of Curriculum and Assessment Administrator and the Director of Assessment.In addition, this position administers two medical school courses within the curriculum**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*** Oversees and manages the curriculum evaluation and assessment program, MedHub, which is a proprietary web-based data collection program.
Utilizing the MedHub program, develops, administers, and collects surveys and reports from students and faculty in support of the mission and goals of the University’s School of Medicine Medical Education curriculum. Serves as MedHub’s primary point of contact for undergraduate medical education and maintains continuous dialogue with proprietary company representative.* Prepares and compiles reports, synthesizing data, utilizing sophisticated statistical analysis software (SPSS) to provide quantitative analysis as these reports relate to the assessment of medical education and the Double Helix Curriculum.* Plans and designs the approach and sequence of steps in survey construction and dissemination, collection of data, interpretation of findings, documentation, and reporting of findings in a structured, professional format.* Partners with URMC’s Institute for Innovation Education (this includes Miner Library and OME-IT) as needed* Provides overall responsibility for managing the curriculum evaluation and curriculum mapping process, including but not limited to: planning, implementing, and coordinating data collection and working with various organizations to upload material.* Responds to requests for data from the medical school’s Curriculum Steering Committee, Curriculum Instruction Committees, Course/Clerkship Directors and Academic Administrators, as well as other OME staff, serving as the primary resource, consultant, and survey developer. Determines the scope of each request and procures the appropriate survey/report necessary to extract and deliver the required data. Formulates data into summary reports and presentations. Serves as a vital member and trainer of the Medical School’s Course Coordinator Support Group—a forum providing for continuous communication training on MedHub processes and reports. Develops, maintains, and distributes an organized calendar for survey development, implementation, and dissemination to appropriate office staff within and outside OME.
Serves as OME’s RedCap expert, assisting OME staff in the development of surveys utilizing RedCap.* Provides on-going monitoring, review, and auditing of student compliance, per Medical School policy of student responsibility in evaluation process and maintains dialogue with the Director of Assessment and the Associate Dean for Student Affairs regarding non-compliance issues.* Represents the School of Medicine in interactions with faculty, students, and other ancillary health providers regarding curricular implementation.
Anticipates needs of faculty, staff, and students; analyzes flow and establishes a communication system to ensure smooth educational experience.
Ensures that all course lectures, PBL sessions and small group sessions begin on time.
Attends the start of all sessions.* Analyzes and resolves complex student issues and concerns about the course, anticipated/unanticipated absences, and faculty issues.
Analyzes and interprets policy and program protocol.
Collaborates with course director to influence resolution.
Determines appropriate action for student correspondence.* Analyzes course grading data and produces reports.
Prepares a recommendation based on the data, advising course director with a recommendation for student grade.* Responsible for oversight of all aspect of course evaluation.
Reviews data from students and faculty.
Produces, edits, and formats factual reports and information about the content of courses and instructor.
Analyzes and produces a recommendation to course director for improvement and suggestions for implementation.* Communicates with faculty and students to ensure timely and accurate assignment and communication processes regarding any changes in course curriculum.* Creates and maintains relationships with various University service offices, such as Parking and the Center for Experiential Learning, to ensure proper execution of teaching activities.* Collaborates with faculty to ensure proper student preparation for all sessions.
This includes but not limited to, compiling and editing syllabi material for thorough and timely production.
Ensures timely and accurate communication to students, course directors and faculty.* Manages the on-line exam program for specific courses.
