Position Overview
This role is responsible for managing unit registrations and maintaining accurate physical and system inventory records. The Registration & Inventory Control Clerk plays a key role in compliance, inventory accuracy, and operational flow by ensuring paperwork is completed correctly and inventory is physically verified.
This position combines administrative work with hands-on inventory tracking and requires strong attention to detail and follow-through.
Key Responsibilities Registration & Titling
Process registrations, titles, and tags for boats, trailers, and related units
Prepare, submit, and track required documentation with state agencies
Follow up on missing paperwork and resolve registration issues
Maintain accurate and organized physical and digital records
Coordinate with sales and accounting on registration timelines
Inventory Control & Physical Tracking
Maintain accurate inventory records in the dealership management system (DMS)
Perform regular physical inventory checks of boats, trailers, motors, and major units
Verify VINs/HINs, serial numbers, locations, and unit status
Track movement of units between locations, service, storage, and sold status
Identify and report inventory discrepancies promptly
Cross-Functional Support
Communicate issues or delays to management in a timely manner
Support accounting with documentation needed for audits and month-end close
Assist in improving inventory and registration processes
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong attention to detail and organization
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Comfortable working both in the office and on the lot
Willingness to physically verify inventory as needed
Basic computer skills (DMS, spreadsheets, document storage)
Clear communication and follow-through
Preferred Experience
Registration and titling experience (boats, trailers, vehicles, or similar)
Inventory control or auditing experience
Dealership, marine, automotive, or operations background
Familiarity with Lightspeed or similar DMS
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk the lot and inspect inventory
Ability to climb into boats or access storage areas as needed
Ability to lift light materials or files
Combination of office and outdoor work
