Role Description
Working within a Reliability Based Maintenance environment, the Machine Repair Technician is responsible for maintaining the company's formulation, filling, packaging, utility, and facility equipment and systems.
This is a 2nd shift position.
Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, improvements, and modifications to production and utility equipment including fillers, pick & place robots, cartoners, case packers, pumps, air compressors, boilers, and other mechanical equipment.
Provide training on maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems in compliance with company standards, procedures, and government regulations (SOPs, GMPs, GLPs, PSM, etc).
Serve as maintenance advisor to provide input to projects in equipment design, parts and material selection, documentation, testing, problem solving, maintenance requirements, project scope, and follow‑up.
Make appropriate priority assessments and decisions related to troubleshooting and diagnostics of equipment operations, working closely with operations to determine root cause and establish corrective actions.
Conduct assembly, repair, and proactive maintenance for packaging, manufacturing, utility, and facility equipment and systems in a cost‑effective manner.
Proactively review equipment operation to identify deficiencies or improvements to increase OEE.
Read and understand drawings/blueprints to install/repair new and existing equipment.
Use precision measuring devices and machinist shop tools.
Education and Experience
Journeyman Certificate with 3–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment or a Technical/Vocational School diploma with 5–8 years of machine repair or machinist‑related work experience.
Valid driver’s license and forklift license required.
Good understanding of the pharmaceutical/bio‑technology industry, operations, and GMP manufacturing processes, equipment, and facilities.
Technical proficiency and knowledge of relevant technical areas.
Awareness of state‑of‑the‑art technology in the industry to ensure current technology usage.
Strong communication and organizational skills, able to interact with all levels of the organization and produce effective project reports and presentations.
Ability to analyze problems and provide support in determining corrective and preventative actions with minimal assistance.
Capable of managing multiple assignments, prioritizing work, and responding flexibly to changes.
Physical Requirements Exposure to airborne particles; work near moving mechanical parts and high surface temperatures, chemicals, and non‑temperature‑controlled environments. Noise level can be loud. Appropriate PPE is required.
