Refrigeration Technician Peace River Citrus Products, Inc. – Clower Facility

SUMMARY

This position reports to the

Maintenance Supervisor

and is responsible for maintaining PRCP refrigeration systems. The role may also require utility maintenance activities, on‑call service, and extended working hours. The maintenance supervisor or other refrigeration technicians will serve as backup for this position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot plant ammonia refrigeration systems in a safe manner.

Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot plant boiler, condensate returns, and steam distribution systems.

Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot plant water treatment systems including nano‑ and RO filtered systems.

Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot plant compressed air systems up to 600 psi.

Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot plant HVAC, exhaust, and make‑up air units.

Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot plant fire protection systems.

Be an active member of the Hazardous Chemical Response Team.

Use computer and associated software to operate plant utility equipment.

Support Process Safety Management (PSM) program.

Follow standard operating procedures (SOP).

Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical systems, including disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and set‑up.

Analyze test results, machine error messages, and operator information to diagnose equipment problems.

Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.

Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices.

Study schematics and manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery.

Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators.

Record parts and materials used; order or requisition new parts and materials as necessary.

Record repairs and maintenance performed and input into the system.

Enter codes and instructions to program computer‑controlled machinery.

Apply a wide variety of methods, procedures, and techniques to lay out, install, align, repair, overhaul, and maintain various types of machines encompassing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems and operational principles.

Communicate with management, engineers, mechanics, and equipment operators to advise them of potential mechanical hazards.

Work at heights when required.

Bring own tools and toolbox to work.

Follow the execution of the maintenance work schedule, as directed by the supervisor.

Examine jobs to be done and determine scope and best way to accomplish the work; consult with requester, maintenance planner, and/or supervisor when necessary.

Obtain one‑lines, drawings, instructional manuals, and special procedures as needed; create additional sketches or diagrams to clarify work orders.

Ensure safety priorities in operations and work execution, including arc flash/shock hazards, confined spaces, LOTO, hazardous materials, and safe hand‑tool use.

Gain complete knowledge of plant processes and packaging systems.

Attend meetings and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Recommend equipment to include in preventive maintenance programs.

Maintain close contact with assigned maintenance crew, production supervisor, and the maintenance supervisor/manager regarding abnormal or critical situations.

Protect product integrity and quality at all times.

Apply safety and security practices and procedures following established rules and regulations.

Use LOTO procedures correctly.

Meet all “Good Manufacturing Practices”.

Practice safety requirements established by OSHA and the company.

Conform to PRCP food safety program requirements.

Be available to work extended shifts and days.

Promote energy conservation.

Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand requirements and address issues promptly.

Comply with FDA, USDA, and GMP policies; perform all tasks safely to achieve quality, food safety, and cost objectives.

Participate in the quality improvement process.

Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic knowledge of computer functions and keyboard use.

5 years of industrial plant maintenance experience in anhydrous ammonia and HVAC or refrigeration.

Maintenance experience in boilers, air compressors, wastewater treatment, water purification, and electrical systems is a plus.

Excellent physical condition and coordination.

High school diploma.

Not mentally or physically impaired from any condition that could adversely affect safe and competent performance.

Must pass an annual physical and respiratory test.

Ability to work various shifts as necessary to meet business needs.

Prompt response to operating conditions.

Experience in PLC/PC‑controlled equipment preferred.

Experience in SAP preferred.

Self‑motivation with a strong drive for results; able to deliver objectives with minimal supervision.

Strong conflict‑resolution skills.

Demonstrated ability to perform industrial manufacturing maintenance mechanic duties.

Problem analysis and resolution skills.

Ability to work in high‑performance teams and be a strong team player.
