Job Description Summary The LGBTQ+ Center is part of the Division of Campus Life. The Administrative Coordinator will provide comprehensive administrative support, manage daily operations, and oversee internal and external communication. The coordinator serves as the initial point of contact, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.

This position requires a proactive individual with strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to operational efficiency and effective outreach.

Essential Functions

Manages the daily operations of the office, including opening and closing; manages infrastructure and the event management system.

Serves as the initial point of contact, welcoming students, faculty, staff, and other visitors both in person and on the phone.

Provides comprehensive administrative support, including calendar management and logistical support for meetings and projects.

Manages and facilitates events, coordinating with various departments, vendors, and the public.

Develops and executes communication strategies for department events and initiatives, including printed materials, email lists, and social media.

Provides logistical support for outreach programming and assists with coordinating educational events.

Educates visitors about the department’s services and other campus resources.

Supports the development of student groups and coalitions, offering guidance on program development and implementation.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Associate degree plus three years of experience in office management or equivalent education and experience.

General knowledge of office management procedures.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.

Strong organizational and planning skills, with attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.

Proficiency in Google Office Suite and other relevant software.

Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment when dealing with sensitive issues.

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

Experience in higher education, especially within academic or student‑life units.

Experience with and sensitivity to working with students from diverse backgrounds and complex support needs.

Knowledge and understanding of event management and program support in complex structures, preferred in higher education.

Experience supporting students with complex support needs or multiple topics.

Environmental Conditions

Occasional movement to accomplish tasks or between worksites.

Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
