Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs inspections of the PLO work area, including all equipment, the lift truck, and conveyor belts - looking for equipment malfunctions and potential problem areas. (i.e., oil leaks, loud motors, loose bolts, broken belts, etc.)

Follow PPE guidelines and safe work practices.

Conduct daily safety risk assessments on routine and non-routine job tasks.

Participate in the Near Miss/Good Catch and Safety Management System.

Perform Start Up and Shutdown of the fiber line/packaging equipment ensuring that the equipment is functioning correctly, safely, productively, and effectively ensuring minimum starts and stops of the packaging equipment while running and performing the proper tasks and documenting completion on the Start Up and Shutdown task lists.

Properly package the finished product in accordance with Customer requirements and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Properly load bales into the proper trailer using the clamp truck.

Complete required Packaging paperwork (i.e., Quality Control report for bales)

Participate in all stages of the operation of packing equipment and routing correctly to the appropriate storage location.

Know how to and where to find customer specifications and to make necessary changes on HMI

Safely operate mobile equipment and front-end loader to position raw materials and equipment as needed

Ability to operate large end loader, forklift, bobcat, scissor lift, lull, excavator, and aerial boom lift

Perform down day PM of balers

Report (verbally and/or in writing) irregularities, off-spec products, safety or security risk situations, accidents, breakdown of equipment and defective raw materials to the Production Supervisor.

Provide thorough shift communications to other crews and staff through verbal and written report

Trouble-shoot and problem solving when issues arise on the line.

Suggest modifications to production equipment to produce in a consistent manner so that finished products meet the requirements of the company, safety, quality and environmental standards.

Train new Finishing Operators teaching the new operator the various work tasks of this position and following the established Certification & Training process (completing proper certification documentation.)

As necessary, Finishing Operator will be called upon to perform other tasks depending on availability/according to the requirements for production, quality, safety, and environment.

Routinely inspect recycle system, bucket elevator, raw material handling system, motors, transmission; perform operator maintenance as directed

Understanding the LOTO procedure

Operators must be able to adjust baler for weight and measurement standards

Perform consistent housekeeping of the finishing line area

Environment and Physical Requirements

Dusty environment that is not climate controlled

Exposure to dusty materials

Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred

2+ years of prior industrial or warehouse experience preferred

Prior experience with lean/process improvement preferred

Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in roles within 30 days of hire

Must be able to work overtime as needed

Must able to work without direct supervision and have an excellent balance between people and the tasks at hand and ability to work and be attentive to a team environment
