The Role Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

This position is for the Interior Communications (IC) group working on Nimitz Class Aircraft Carriers.

Technically review engineering products (i.e. drawings, eIRs, DFS, DLAR, DIM, etc.) that will be issued to the waterfront and/or government.

Rapidly troubleshoot waterfront issues and help drive resolutions to completion.

Maintain knowledge of governing requirements to ensure deliverables stay in compliance.

Mentor and train less experienced teammates.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience

Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience

Ph.D. and 4 years of experience

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice to Have Previous experience/knowledge with IC circuits onboard aircraft carriers is preferred. Experience/knowledge of the following systems is a plus:

CANES (Consolidated Afloat Network Enterprise System)

MCSS (Machinery Control System Suite)

IVCN (Integrated Voice Communication Network)

ETC (Electronic Throttle Control)

FOCP (Fiber Optic Cable Plant)

DAS (Data Acquisition System)

Navigation Systems

IC Switchboards
