Job Summary This position serves as the Industrial Hygienist for Bay Pines VA Medical Center, responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive Industrial Hygiene Program covering environmental monitoring, recordkeeping, medical surveillance, personal protective equipment, hazardous material management, asbestos control, and education and training.

Responsibilities

Provide technical advice to VA personnel on occupational health issues across the VAMC and Community Based Outpatient Clinics.

Develop and maintain an industrial hygiene program, including environmental monitoring, recordkeeping, medical surveillance, PPE, hazardous material management, asbestos control, and staff education.

Conduct industrial hygiene inspections of worksites to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Standards.

Review background operations and work processes to assess compliance with VA circulars and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.

Accompany OSHA, EPC, or other inspectors during inspections of the Medical Center.

Maintain scheduled work hours Monday-Friday 8:00 AM–4:30 PM; telework is ad‑hoc (not a virtual position).

Qualifications

U.S. citizenship required.

Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Acceptable identification for pre‑employment (e.g., I‑9 compliant documents). Driver’s license must be REAL ID compliant effective May 7 2025.

Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program required.

Background/security investigation and potential probationary period.
