Shape precision metal, one shell at a time
Guided by the Metallurgical Engineering Manager, you will be the hands‑on expert transforming wax patterns into high‑quality metal castings through advanced investment casting methods. From building ceramic shells to dewaxing, from loading burnout ovens to pouring molten metal, you’ll steward each step with a focus on safety and quality.
A day in the life You start by walking the robotic dip cell, checking slurry health and dialing in viscosity so shells build to spec. When shells are ready, you move them to the boilerclave to safely remove wax, patching any areas that need a touch‑up to protect downstream quality. As the shift heats up, you stage dewaxed shells in the burnout oven, assist with unloading for the pour, and precisely handle molten metal to fill fired molds. Once solidified, you’ll remove cast parts and perform thorough cleaning so components are ready for inspection. Throughout, you suit up in appropriate PPE and champion safe, methodical work practices.
What you’ll own
Oversee robotic dipping and adjust slurry viscosity to maintain shell integrity.
Use basic robot functions to keep the cell productive and on schedule.
Operate the boilerclave for safe, efficient dewaxing of ceramic molds.
Patch shells as required to uphold quality standards.
Load dewaxed shells into the burnout oven; assist with unloading for pouring.
Handle and pour molten metal into fired molds with precision and safety.
Perform part removal and clean castings to prepare for inspection.
Follow all safety procedures, wear proper PPE, and support team initiatives.
Other duties as assigned; help drive and support BCT's Culture and Core Values.
What you bring
At least 2 years in a foundry or metal casting environment; investment casting preferred.
Hands‑on familiarity with ceramic shell preparation, wax pattern handling, and molten metal operations.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in high‑temperature areas.
Keen attention to detail and commitment to precision at every step.
Clear communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Proficiencies
