If the role interests you and you would like to be considered we encourage you to apply!# We are looking for a Biology Specialist who will join our SMG Research & Development team in Apopka,FL.The Field Research Specialist plays a critical role in supporting and coordinating field operations for various research activities focused on plant studies and growing media. This position collaborates with R&D staff to establish and maintain field research projects and trials, ensuring adherence to research protocols and successful achievement of research objectives. The role involves hands-on participation in various operational tasks, including plot layout, tillage, fertilization, pest control, planting, mechanical weed control, and harvesting. The Specialist is also responsible for detailed record-keeping, plant monitoring, data collection and reporting to support effective research outcomes.What you’ll do in this role:●Plan, execute, and setup research trials according to strict protocols.●Plot layout, tillage, fertilizer and chemical applications. Planting, pest control, harvesting, sanitation.●Record field observations, data entry and analysis, prepare reports.●Regular field scouting, pest monitoring. Report and proactively address any issues.●Assist in maintaining field station research readiness.What you’ll need to be successful:
●Minimum BS degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Plant/Weed/Soil Science.●Ability to work independently.●Ability to operate or learn to operate medium size tractors with attachments, landscape maintenance equipment, pesticide sprayers.●Ability to analyze and interpret research data and field observations.●Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.●Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $56,700.00 - $66,700.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.For remote roles where the final candidate resides in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary.* Our *Live Total Health* program provides you with options to align to your **personal needs**.
