Chemical Operator (Resin/E-Coat) – 2nd Shift Position in the Chemical Manufacturing Department of Nippon Paint Automotive Americas, Inc. (NPAA).

Position Summary Processes raw materials into finished polymeric materials using industrial equipment such as pressure & non‑pressure reactors, vacuum systems, distributed control systems (DCS), pumps, flow meters, condensers, and sensors in an OSHA PSM‑covered environment. Performs in‑process and finished quality testing using analytical lab equipment. Operates distillation equipment and handles hazardous & non‑hazardous waste transfers. Requires flexible work schedule, overtime and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

Perform production functions and follow company standards, procedures and specifications, including filling products to drums, totes or tanks and loading raw materials into process tanks.

Operate equipment and follow DCS to convert raw materials in batch operations; make necessary adjustments.

Conduct chemical testing on in‑process and finished goods in a lab environment.

Complete related paperwork, reports and support functions.

Work under supervisor direction, communicate significant problems and issues, and may work independently on scheduled activities.

Create work orders for equipment repair activities.

Train personnel for other production positions.

Perform periodic chemical preventive maintenance on heat exchangers, cooling coils/jackets and condensers.

Troubleshoot process abnormalities using DCS process software and field sensors, and communicate issues to engineering.

Assist in annual interlock & alarm testing with Engineering group.

Follow safety and quality standards, wear appropriate PPE, and handle waste per company procedures.

Meet production deadlines and maintain production schedules.

Keep work areas clean and maintain visual process control documents.

Update production records and inventory transactions using business process software.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Technician certification or equivalent.

Minimum 5 years of chemical manufacturing experience; polymer or reaction chemistry experience preferred.

Fork‑Truck Certification.

HAZMAT training (Hazwoper, etc.) or experience preferred.

Shift & Compensation

2nd Shift (Monday–Friday); overtime as needed.

Compensation starts at $23.00/hour and is negotiable based on experience.
