Maintenance Technician

Job Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep of the building and grounds, installation, maintenance, and repair of hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical, and electrical systems on all production machines, equipment, and building. Duties include inventory of maintenance parts & supplies, interaction with suppliers, and coordination with internal departments. The incumbent is a self‑starter who manages time effectively, works independently, and follows Altor Solutions’ safety and conduct standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for general maintenance duties on building and machines; troubleshooting to determine root cause of issues and executing repairs, performing preventative maintenance on plant machines and fork trucks.
Performs minor electrical work not requiring a licensed electrician (e.g., replacing light bulbs and fuses) and assists in minor carpentry and repair work. Licensed technicians maintain and make routine repairs to electrically powered equipment and appliances based on manuals and supervisor instruction.
Assists with servicing and replacing minor plumbing fixtures.
Maintains machinery, equipment, and tools by cleaning, lubricating, greasing, and/or oiling to ensure optimum working order.
Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
Applies paint, varnish, and stain to surfaces to protect and beautify using appropriate tools.
Responsible for setting up, removing, and storing production molds according to documented procedures.
Maintains usable fill guns and ejectors through bench testing, cleaning, rebuilding, and inspecting.
Water treatment: collects, tests, and reports water samples for hardness, pH, etc., at various stages.
Follows plant‑specified job specifications, task lists, and completes all required paperwork.
Conducts self in a safe manner, adhering to all safety protocols and policies, including lockout/tagout.
Wears PPE properly in accordance with company standards.
Keeps the area around the workstation clean and free from dirt and debris; cleans assigned areas as instructed by supervisor.
Works assigned shifts, including overtime and after‑hour meetings as needed.
May perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Three years of related experience
Associate’s Degree or technical certificate preferred
Additional Work Experience
Experience monitoring and maintaining low‑pressure boilers, air compressors, air driers, and vacuum pumps.
Experience maintaining forklifts.
Proficient in reading schematics to troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
Physical Demands The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must frequently lift and carry up to 35 pounds, sit regularly, use hands to finger, handle, and feel, talk or hear, stand and walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop/crouch, bend or twist, occasionally push, pull, or move material, and work in awkward positions such as underneath equipment or around machines.
Work Environment The work environment is typical of most manufacturing environments with a high noise level requiring ear protection. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
