Base pay range $62,400.00/yr - $83,200.00/yr
Pay: $62,400.00 - $83,200.00 per year
Job Summary Responsible for the hands-on installation, maintenance, and repair of complex Building Automation Systems (BAS), ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort in commercial and industrial facilities, requiring strong technical skills in controls, programming, low voltage electrical and HVAC.
Key Responsibilities
Installation, Service & Commissioning Support: Assist with install and start-up of new BAS hardware (sensors, actuators, controllers) and software, loading programs and performing point-to-point checkouts.
Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and resolve complex malfunctions in HVAC, lighting, and other controlled systems, requiring extensive knowledge of digital controls.
Programming & Software: Write, modify, update, and test control system software and programs, often using specific languages (e.g., , ).
Maintenance: Conduct preventative maintenance, calibration of sensors, and routine servicing of BAS components and related equipment (e.g., air handlers, chillers, VAV and VRF).
Customer Interaction: Interface directly with General Contractors, Building Engineers, Project Managers and other professionals to understand needs and ensure satisfaction.
Collaboration: Work with engineers, electricians, and subcontractors to integrate systems and meet project goals.
Documentation: Properly complete all project and service documentation and create work orders.
Safety & Training: Adhere to strict safety protocols (PPE) and continuous self-study to maintain proficiency in evolving BAS technologies.
Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED; preferred degree/certs in BAS, HVAC, or related field (e.g., EPA).
Experience with various BAS platforms (e.g., Siemens, Johnson Controls) and communication protocols (BACnet).
Strong understanding of HVAC/R and electrical systems.
Proficiency in computer skills, including software diagnostics and programming logic.
Ability to read electrical schematics and work with hand/power tools.
Excellent problem-solving, self-motivation, and communication skills.
Varies from office/control rooms to mechanical rooms, rooftops, and construction sites.
Requires working independently and as part of a team, often in confined spaces or critical environments.
