Safety Technician - 1st Shift

Monday - Friday, 6am - 2pm (Flexible)
Pay Rate:
$20.60 per hour (Safety Tech I) / $22.10 per hour (Safety Tech II)
In the role of Safety Tech, you will work closely with the EHS site leader and specialists and cross‑functional teams throughout the facility. The Safety Tech is responsible for shift‑specific environmental, health, and safety functions to prevent workplace accidents and promote health and safety awareness and education among employees at the manufacturing site.
Responsibilities Safety Technician I
Engage in floor safety needs such as incident response, safety coaching (limited), PPE distribution, ergonomic assessments, safety audits, pre‑pros for altered products and/or new product.
Facilitate new hire orientation.
Collect environmental compliance data, including but not limited to air monitoring, filter performance readings, and hazardous waste inspections.
Monitor and archive inspection supplies for all in‑house powered industrial trucks (PITs).
Serve as the primary contact for Environmental, Health and Safety issues and/or concerns on the production floor.
Post new emergency procedures, update SDS files, archive incident reports, and training documentation.
Assist in emergency response(s) and communication.
Other duties as assigned.
Safety Technician II
All Safety Tech I responsibilities plus:
Provide training to new employees or employees learning new work areas.
Contribute to improving processes.
Use initiative and judgment to solve problems.
Participate actively in tiger team meetings.
Provide record‑keeping support via form updates, development of incident, audit, inspection forms, as needed.
Work directly with specialists developing training materials for any training requiring attention or development.
Initiate updates to already established forms and trainings as needed.
Engage in MDI with specialists and manager; be willing to work with specialists, manager, and other departments to resolve challenges/concerns brought to light via MDI process.
Report safety problems and work to solve them on their own with minimal supervision.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
1 year experience implementing occupational safety and environmental programs.
Demonstrated understanding of corporate environmental, health and safety policies.
Proven knowledge of safety equipment and standards.
Demonstrated ability to influence teams and individuals across multiple functions within the organization.
Proven track record of successfully managing shifting deadlines and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrate the ability to understand OSHA, EPA, WDNR, DOT, and local regulations.
Public speaking skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and individuals across multiple functions within the organization.
